The Rocky Mountain Youth Clinics (The RMYC) was incorporated in 1996 by Dr. Larry Wolk, a Denver pediatrician who recognized a gap in the Colorado healthcare system that left many children without access to healthcare. In the first year of operation, Dr. Wolk ran a single clinic and provided approximately 2,000 patient vists a year. Today, The RMYC has grown to be one of the largest safety-net providers in Colorado, providing more than 50,000 patients vists at more than 40 clinics sites each year.
In addition to its stand-alone and satellite clinics, the organization now has three Ronald McDonald Care Mobiles which provide medical and dental services to children all over the state. These mobile care vehicles provide more than 2,500 Colorado children with healthcare services, making The RMYC one of the most accessible healthcare systems in the state. The RMYC is the only organization in the world to have three Ronald McDonald Care Mobiles.
2011 is The RMYC's 15th year of operation with more than 500,000 patient visits since its inception. In these 15 years, The RMYC has expanded exponentially throughout Colorado and has become a national model for providing care to the uninsured. The organization is also recognized nationally for its successful medical home model (Read more about our medical home).
